Fall of 2016
At our March meeting, we let our creative juices flow: this time with very unique choices of pottery at Katie's Clay Studio.
The finished products! Such DKG talent!
Fall of 2015 |
At our first meeting of the school year, we began with "Three Little Words" to express our sentiments, some of gratitude, hope, anticipation, and friendship.

We enjoyed a delightful program by Pittsburgh author and adjunct professor, Katherine Ayres. She talked to us about the ideas that inspired her to write young readers' novels, her children's books, and her adult non-fiction book of essays on the black bear. After her talk and q&a, she signed books for us. Her books include
Macaroni Boy - historical fiction for young readers
Silver Dollar Girl - historical fiction for young readers
Matthew's Truck - great for toddlers
A Long Way - children's book

In October, we returned to one of our favorite places - The Senator John Heinz History Center to see the current exhibit, We Can Do It - WWII! Education director, Bob Stakely, gave us an overview with background information before we perused the many rooms.
Spring of 2015
The end of the school year brought us much joy! First, we welcome Nancy Weixel, Jill Millard, and Shari McGill, who joined Alpha Xi on May 7th in the Sample One-Room Schoolhouse in Cranberry Township. In our hats and gloves, we fit in perfectly in the beautifully renovated school. Congratulations to Barbara Rankin on her 50 years of DKG membership. Also, at the PADKG convention in State College, Darlene Farrel and Dede Rittman were included in the 2015 Women of Distinction Album. Darlene was inducted into the Cookie-cuttter Collector's Club Hall of Fame. Her over 20,000 cookie cutters wowed all at convention, including the keynote speaker! Dede was recognized for her many honors related to her book, Student Teaching: The Inside Scoop from a Master Teacher.
